Elaine Twiss has enjoyed significant recognition by both peers and clients in her 30 year tenure as an acrylic artist. This self-taught artist was drawn to art at an early age and combined that interest with her fascination with detail to create her current acrylic offerings.
A California native, she has achieved both local & national recognition with showings in galleries and art venues from California to New York. She has been the focus of many One Woman Shows and has been juried into the prestigious Laguna Beach Festival of Arts over the past 13 years. She is a Signature member of the National Society of Painters in Casein & Acrylic and a Signature member of the San Diego Watercolor Society.
When she considers an idea for a painting, she acquires the objects, arranges them until she achieves the image she's looking for, photographs the arrangement, and replicates the image onto Arches rough watercolor paper. Then she begins painting, making adjustments to achieve her vision of the piece. The acrylic paint is thinned on a glass pallet until she reaches her desired consistency, at times applying several layers of paint to achieve the desired effect. This approach leaves no room for error as once it's applied it cannot be lifted or removed to make corrections.
